A:N: Ok, this is a story I hope to be able to finish. Includes R/R, and Bb/T as the primary couplings. If you do not like em...well then don't let the door hit ya on the way out.
Disclaimer: Do not own the titans, but the OC villain that plays a part in this story is mine. Also do not own Full Metal Alchemist and it's main character idea...the one with the metal arm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Twisted Hearts -- Chapter 01 - You like Rap? I like Heavy Metal...
It was a bright and sunny morning over Jump City, and our heroes are just beginning to stir from their sleep, one already up. It was Raven, and she was getting a headstart on her meditation on the roof where she knew she whouldn't be disturbed for awhile. Sometimes she wondered what it whould be like, to be normal. To not be the daughter of Trigon the terrible, to just be a normal teenager with a normal life, but instead, she was Raven. The half-demon girl that with a small display of emotion, could blow up a random object without meaning to.
"Raven?" called a familiar voice behind her that startled her. Robin walked up to her with one of his bright smiles and said, "Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes," he said.
"Ok, thank you. I'll be down in a couple of minutes," Raven replied with her usual emotionless tone, but she was aching for more.
"Kay, just thought I'd come up and tell you. See ya down stairs," Robin replied, patting her on the shoulder before he left. Raven's heart nearly skipped a beat when he touched her, but she couldn't bring herself to ask him to stay up with her and could only watch as he left, pauseing at the stairs to wave back to her with a wave. What a nice smile he had she thought as she smiled slightly back at him, then he was gone and she was again alone on the roof.
"Why am I like this? Why can't I tell him how I feel about him?" Raven sighed as she tried to bring herself back to meditating, but all she could think about at that moment was Robin, only Robin. Despite her effort, she could not shake him from her mind. Ever since Robin helped her through Trigon's rise to power, the two had become closer. Closer as friends maybe, but part of her was yearning for something else....
She decided to go downstairs finally, it was pointless to try and meditate with boy wonder on the brain. So, she floated her way down the stairs, and through the hallway to the kitchen where Beastboy and Cyborg were argueing over who made breakfast. "Can't you two ever comprimise?" Raven said dryly, stopping the argument there for a moment.
"Girl is your hood on to tight? I ain't letting him near the stove to make his yucky tofu," Cyborg said hotly.
"Dude! Tofu is not yucky!" Beastboy growled.
"From who's point of view? Yours? No one but you likes tofu! Tell em Rae," Cyborg said, him and Beastboy turning to her to see what she said.
"That is not true Cyborg..." Rae started before Beastboy cut her off by shouting oh yeah, "There are other people that like to eat tofu in the world as much as Beastboy does, but....he is the only one here that likes it," she said makeing some herbal tea.
"HAHA! Hear that little man? She agrees with me!" Cyborg teased thinking he won the arguement. Then the two went back at it like nothing had happend.
"Friends, please stop fighting..." Star said trying to break the two up as Raven sat at the table with her herbal tea.
"Hey Rae," Robin greeted her cheerfuly with another one of his smiles.
"Hey," she replied dully, blushing inwardly at the smile as she took a sip of her herbal tea. "So, are we ever going to eat you think?" she said makeing small talk.
"Probably not, but guess we'll just have to go for pizza if they don't stop it in a couple minutes," Robin replied smoothly, glanceing at the two as the fight turned into a food fight with eggs, pancakes, and tofu.
"Pinheads," Raven sighed, turning around to watch the two go at it. Then, something happend just as she took a sip of her herbal tea. Beastboy as he was about to throw another egg at Cyborg, slipped on some pancake mix and sent the egg flying at Raven, and hit her squarely on the chest with a splat. Raven was just about to explode, but fortunately for Beastboy, Robin had grabbed a napkin and was attempting to wipe some of it off. Makeing Raven completely forget what just happend as he touched her again, but also in a sensative area.
It took Robin a minute before he realized what just happend, and he blushed while tossing the napkin aside. "Errr, sorry Rae. Just wanted to...help," he apologized, scratching the back of his head embarressed.
"It's...err...it's alright," Raven said blushing, something then promptly shattered, "I'll just go....change," she said quickly as she floated out of the room, and transported herself to her room. "d**nit! It happend again..." she wailed as she took her now ruined clothes off. "Why? Why can't I control it? Why can't I just be normal for once, for him!" Raven roared inwardly, makeing something else explode.
"Ok...just, relax," Raven sighed, takeing a few deep breathes to calm herself down. Then, she slipped some new clothes on, and transported back downstairs where everyone was cleaning up the fiasco.
"Sorry Raven..." Bb apologized from her side, "Didn't mean to hit ya with an egg," he added trying to smile cheerful enough like he could infect her with his good mood, but it didn't work.
"Well, don't let it happen again," she said sternly to him as she helped the others clean up. Then after everything was all clean, they all headed out for pizza. Where Raven had to put up with another round of Beastboy's bad jokes...
"So why did the ardvark cross the road?" Beastboy asked.
"To beat up the idiot telling jokes about him?" Raven said dryly, makeing Robin and Cyborg laugh hysterically. "You tried to tell me this joke before, remember?" Raven added.
"Oh yeah, but I didn't get to tell you the punch line..." he said, but he never got to finish as the car was suddenly hit by a flying police car.
"d**nit man! I just waxed this thing!" Cyborg growled angrily as he kicked his door open, then sprang out with his cannon armed to shoot whatever hit his car. He then blasted another one that tried to hit him.
A fairly large robot was in the middle of a group of S.W.A.T officers outside the bank, and it looked like it was on it's way, but the officers got in it's way and it was now throwing them aside like garbage. "Titans, go!" Robin shouted, drawing his bo-staff and grabbing a few explosive disks from his utility belt.
The bot heard them, and twisted it's head to face them as it dropped a car it was useing to smash the S.W.A.T trucks with. Raven transported behind it, and picked up one of the trucks with telekenisis, and caught it off guard with a strong whack from the truck sending it wheeling. Then, Starfire flew over it and pounded it with starbolts makeing it fall on it's back, then Beastboy leaped onto it as a lion and tried to tear it apart, but it simply slapped him off with a bulky hand so it could get back up, but Cyborg picked it up and held it over his head where he slammed it headfirst into the ground.
The bot shrugged the blows off and rose to it's feet again, getting pounded by Robin's explosive disks and Starfire's starbolts before Raven picked it up with telekenisis. She growled as she strained under the weight and slammed the bot into the ground a couple times before being hit with an eye beam that sent her crashing into a turned over truck. She rubbed her head and growled annoyed as she rose back to her feet, catching something out of the corner of her eye.
It was a guy in a suit, with an iron mask over his face and a black wide-brim hat on his head aiming a gun at Robin. He was holding a .44 magnum from the looks of it, but it looked as though it was modified and without a secound thought, Raven transported over to him and kicked it out of his hand. "Isn't it pretty low to shoot someone when their not looking?" she growled as she floated infront of him.
"Maybe, but isn't it also low to disarm someone when their not looking?" he countered, takeing a step back and slideing his feet apart into a fighting stance. "By the way...I like your clothes, very...revealing," he chuckled, earning an angry growl from Raven as she fired a telekenitic beam at him, but he ducked under it and slapped his gloved hands together, makeing a wrist blade appear out of one of his wrists where he lounged at Raven with it.
Raven pulled back and waved her hand, makeing a shield appear to block the first attack, then did it again when he swun with his other fist. Then in the blink of an eye Raven was on the defensive and blocking his onslaught of attacks that whould have given Robin a run for his money, but then he suddenly stopped and snapped his fingers, makeing fire suddenly erupt from the bladed hand almost burning Raven. "An Alchemist...great" she groaned inwardly as he came at her again.
Robin dove to the side to avoid one of the bot's attacks, and then rose to his feet in time to watch Starfire ram into it full force, but where was Raven? Robin looked around and found her, fighting the guy who must have owned the robot. Robin grabbed a couple birdarangs, and then charged towards them...
Raven was by now getting tired of constantly blocking and evadeing him, as she grew tired he just seemed to get faster with more complex attacks that she was growing weary of. Then, she heard something grind as he pulled his left arm back, and then when he punched her shield again, it was blasted through by a kinetic blast that sent her wheeling. There, her attacker pounced on her and held his wrist blade to her throat saying, "It looks like I got you..." he stated.
"Think again tough guy!" roared Robin, throwing his birdarangs at him. This made him raise an arm up to shield himself, giveing Robin the perfect chance to tackle him off of Raven. The two quickly scrambled to their feet, and then encircled eachother as if in a stareing contest.
"So...you're Robin," the guy mused.
"Yeah, and you're going down," Robin growled, pulling a fresh bo-staff out.
"How droll....thought you whould be taller," the crook laughed, placeing his left hand onto the ground, then as he pulled it up light erupted from the ground and grew longer until it took the shape of a bladed staff. "You think your toys can save you birdboy? Bring it," he challenged, spreading his feet apart as he held the staff with the blade pointing at Robin.
Robin grit his teeth and growled at being called short, and roared as he charged at the crook, swinging high for his head, but the crook not only ducked under it, but he swun low for Robin's kneecaps. Robin jumped over the attack, and raised his staff up bringing it back down for the crook's head again, but the crook spun his staff around his body and up in time to counter it. "Hmmm, is this all you got?" he mocked as he pushed Robin back and rose to his feet. Then, before he could react, a S.W.A.T truck was dropped on him.
Raven floated closer to it and waited to see what happend next, and recoiled as the truck suddenly shook and crumpled up into itself. It seemed to wrap around the crook, covering every inch of his body in steel and circuits until he towered over the two in his new battle armor. "Who are you?" Raven said calmly.
"Call me, Heavy Metal," he replied, grabbing a lamp pole and brandishing it like a bo-staff, "And remember it well..." he added as he swun at her, but missed as she ducked under it. Raven and Robin backed away from Heavy Metal for the moment, dodgeing his swings with the lamp pole as starbolts and a blue beam hit Heavy Metal from the side.
"So you're the owner of that thing? You owe me a new car!' Cy growled as he leaped up towards Heavy Metal, and right hooked him makeing him stumble backwards. Beast boy then ran up in a wolf to him, and turned into a gorilla where he uppercut him. Heavy Metal was wheeling now, getting overwhelmed by new attacks as Starfire flew over and bombarded him with more starbolts from the air, and Raven finished it by slamming a dumpster over his head,
"Gah...gross..." Heavy Metal growled, grabbing the dumpster and throwing it at Starfire who flew out of the way, "You all have no idea what power you oppose!" he roared, holding a hand out and makeing a large cannon appear in it. He then aimed the cannon at Cy and Bb, letting a hailf of bullets fly to make them scatter, and he did the same with the others as he backed away.
"You're not going anywhere..." Raven growled at his side, then suddenly Robin shot out form under her cloak and planted an EMP disk on Heavy Metal's suit. A split secound later, and the disk charged and sent EMP surgeing into the suit, and disabled it.
Heavy Metal growled irrately as he pulled himself out of the useless suit, summoning a katanna to his hand where he took a defensive stance. Even if he could summon weapons, manipulate metal and circuits to his whim, and use Alchemy, he knew the odds were against him. "Not bad..." he commented as he kept an eye on them all, not wanting to get caught off guard, "To bad you still can't catch me..." he laughed as he snapped his fingers again and made fire erupt from his hand, makeing a wall of fire burn in between him and the titans so he could escape.
"Don't let him get away!" Robin hissed, wrapping himself in his cape and barreling through the flames as Star picked Cy up and carried him over with Bb close behind. Raven simply melded into the ground, and emerged in an alley as a black Raven where she quickly found the escapee. She swooped down infront of him and took her normal shape, standing in his way and preventing him from going on.
"You are really pissing me off..." she growled crossing her arms, and giveing him a glare.
"Hmph, you have no idea who you are talking to in that manner," Heavy Metal growled, pointing his katanna at her, "Perhaps we could cut a deal..." he offered.
"Cut a deal? With the likes of you? I don't think so," she growled, eyes glowing black as her aura kicked up.
"Oh really? Just ask and I'm sure I can give it to you," he said, takeing a step back as he went on, "Immortality? No? Then wealth, no? Then how about true love," he said as Raven approached him, halting after he mentioned the last one. "I see I found one..." he murmered pleased, "Tell me, is there someone on your mind? Someone you'd like nothing better but to have for the rest of your life?" he said calmly.
Raven blinked and her aura dissipated as she recoiled from him as if he were a poisionis snake. "I...I mean..." she stammered, trying to keep calm but finding it difficult, "No...there isn't anyone on my mind," she lied, regaining her bearings.
"Hmph, thats a dirty lie girl," he growled, taken back she lied to him, "There is no shame in admiting your feelings...I can feel it now yes. There is someone that makes your heart skip a beat, perhaps one of your teammates?" he said oh so inviteingly. He lowered his katanna and approached her as he went on, "What do you want? I know you want someone special, someone to love, someone that doesn't think you're...creepy, someone that loves you for who you are and not what," he went on, each word hitting home on Raven, "Just tell me...and if you let me go I will give it to you," he offered with sheer honesty.
Raven's lip trembled as her head was tearing itself apart. "Don't let him go! It's a trick!!!" she heard one voice say.
"How do you know if it is a trick? Let him go..." argued another. Then, despite herself, she broke down crying infront of Heavy Metal. "I can't stand it!" she wailed, makeing a trash can explode, "I can't! All I ever wanted is to be normal...to have control of my emotions!" she wailed, makeing a few more objects explode. She turned away from Heavy Metal as she tried to get a hold of herself, she didn't want anyone to see her like this, much less a complete stranger who moments before tried to kill her.
Heavy Metal walked up to her and hesitantly patted her on the shoulder. "It is ok...you don't need to hide your pain from me," he assured her, "Here...I can't stand to see a girl cry," he added, pulling a handerkief from his jacket pocket and holding it out for her. Raven looked at it hesitantly and at Heavy Metal. "Go on, take it, I didn't do anything to it," he said with a laugh.
Raven slowly reached out, and took it from him, then blew into it. "There, now as for helping you..." he started, "I will give you complete control of your powers if you let me go, but I want one more thing in return," he said makeing her round on him, "Nothing big, just a date," he said takeing a step back.
"What?" she said regaining her composure.
"Trust me...you get something out of it too," he said smoothly, "When you get a new toy, you whould want to get it home and play with it correct?" he said.
"Yes...I guess so," Raven replied, raiseing an eyebrow in confusion.
"Well, same with you being able to feel emotions without a penality. However, what if you immediatly try and go out with whoever you want on your team? You could blow it and you whould be heartbroken," he explained, "But, if you go out with me, just once, you can learn to control your emotions when you try this guy...or girl," he said pausing on the last part to look her up and down, "Guy..." he said as if affirming to himself about something.
"It will be a test date," he said summing it up, "And all you need to do is let me go, and then later I will give you complete control of your emotions and go out with you to help you anyway I can," he finished, but as Raven thought about it, Robin jumped in right then and kicked Heavy Metal into a trashcan. "Annoying runt! Can't you take a hint?" he growled angrily whereas he was charming before, but now that was gone and replaced with the guy that attacked Raven...
"Nope, always was a slow learner," Robin replied as he ducked under a slash, but then Heavy Metal left hooked Robin, makeing another kinetic blast erupt from his fist and sent Robin flying into a dumpster, hard.
Raven then roared demonically as she rushed Heavy Metal with tendrils emerging from under her cloak when she pinned him to the wall. "The deal...is off," she growled in a low whisper to him, "I will not allow you to endanger my friends any more," she added as she hoisted him up with more strength then normal.
Heavy Metal simply glanced from her to Robin, and immediatly knew who the lucky guy was. "So...you like him do you?" he guessed as if she wasn't threatening his life.
"That is none of your bussiness," she roared, dark tendrils wrapping around Heavy Metal and threatening to strangle him.
"Hmmm, you'll come crawling back to me...they always do," he said calmly as one his mask's eyes opened wide, then in an instant Raven was blinded by an incredibly bright light that forced her to break off of him. Raven recoiled clawing at her face and shrieking in agony as Heavy Metal walked past her. "Goodbye sweety, see you later," he waved, flicking a card at her feet as he walked away into another alley.
After a couple minutes of blind flailing around, Raven's vision soon returned to her and she calmed herself down. An effort, but she managed to do it and she picked up the card he left her, turning it over in her hands. "Dark gathering..." she read, she knew where that was. It was a nightclub she went to one night, but she heard Robin stirring and shreded the card before he could have a chance to read it. She knelt down to Robin and moved him alittle to try and wake him up. "Hey...wake up," she said.
"Huh? Wha? Who?" Robin started, looking around wildly, "Oh, hey Raven...what happend? Did he get away?" Robin said alarmed.
"I'm afraid so, he blinded me with a flash of light, then he walked off while I was blind," she replied calmly.
"d**n...well lets go back home then," Robin sighed, riseing to his feet, "Robin to titans...it's a bust, he got away," Robin said into his communicator.
"You let him get away...stupid stupid!" Raven growled inwardly, "You knew he was just tricking you!" she thought to herself angrily. But, was he? She stopped to consider it and if Robin hadn't interupted, no. It was a trick.
"Raven?" Robin said, bringing her back to reality, "You ok?" he asked concerned,
"Oh, yeah. Never better," Raven blinked startled, "Lets go home," she added, walking with Robin to meet the others.
